In a letter written on July 24, he recognised the diligence, dedication and heightened responsibility demonstrated by everyone involved.
“Careful and responsible work ensures that the election process runs smoothly in an environment of security, good order, safety and fearlessness, free from threats and violence,” Sar Kheng wrote.
The statement paid homage to the meticulous effort put into organising and conducting the election in a peaceful and safe environment.
He added that this successful conduct is not only a proof of the maturity of Cambodian officials and law enforcement at all levels, but it has also instilled a renewed sense of pride and prestige in the nation.
He said each subsequent election clearly mirrored the growth in organisational experience and expertise.
According to Sar Kheng, this success has done more than just enhance the reputation of the public security sector.
“This remarkable achievement is not only a new achievement for the public security sector, but this success has taken an indispensable contribution to promote multi-party liberal democracy in Cambodia,” he stated.
On the same day, the National Election Committee (NEC) released a statement regarding the general election. NEC Chairman, Prach Chan, confirmed the successful collaboration between the Permanent Security Command for the Election (PSCE) and NEC.
He said they had jointly issued guidelines for the security agents, ensuring a smooth and secure election process.
“The election process was successful and took place in a calm, secure, safe and well-ordered environment. It was also non-violent, free from threats, and marked by good cooperation with the NEC and the Election Commission at all levels,” Chan said.
This assertion reaffirms the secure and cooperative nature of the election.
The NEC chairman also shared details regarding the prompt, accurate, and transparent dissemination of the preliminary election results.
He said this was an essential step to build trust among the relevant parties regarding the election outcome, and emphasised the effective utilisation and broadening of technology in the procedures of monitoring, verifying, and summarising the election results.
“This contributes to the success of the seventh parliamentary election, which was secure, safe, orderly, non-violent, threat-free, and maintained a good environment after the election day while awaiting the official result from the NEC”.
This statement reinforces the tranquillity in the afterglow of the elections and awaits the official outcomes from the NEC.
