The National Police has tasked 12 senior police officers, led by a Deputy National Police Commissioner, with implementing a joint action plan with Thailand, aimed at preventing and suppressing cross-border crimes.
Their remit includes technology-based scams and human trafficking, in line with an October 23 bilateral cooperation agreement between the Cambodian National Police and the Royal Thai Police, explained a November 1 statement from the National Police.
The appointments were made in accordance with Point 8 of the Joint Action Plan, titled “Working Group for the Implementation of the Action Plan”, and have already been officially communicated to Police General Kittharath Punpetch, commissioner-general of the Royal Thai Police.
This follows the spirit of a September 10 meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC), held in Koh Kong province, and a follow up October 23 meeting, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The joint plan aims to strengthen efficient bilateral coordination through information-sharing, mutual support and the evidence of exchange — all in accordance with the legal principles of both countries.
