In a laudable collaborative effort, the Kampong Thom Provincial Administration is joining hands with a team of volunteer doctors from South Korea to provide free medical treatment and medication to the general public at the Kampong Thom provincial referral hospital.
The complimentary healthcare services will be offered from August 11 to 13 at the aforementioned hospital, according to Nguon Reasey, deputy governor of Kampong Thom province.
Reasey revealed that a meeting was convened on July 2, involving Suos Yara, chairman of the National Assembly Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Media & Information, and the delegation of Korean doctors, to discuss the specifics of this free medical treatment plan.
Mak Bunhong, provincial hall administration director, said that precise details regarding the conditions to be treated by the volunteer doctors’ team are still to be received. He reassured that the administration will make a public announcement with these details as soon as they are available.
“The free medical treatment and provision of medicine provided by a team of volunteer doctors from Korea is an excellent initiative to assist people across our province. We’ve collaborated with other volunteer medical teams from several countries in the past,” Bunhong said.
He further indicated that the initiative primarily targets the underprivileged and needy, but it is also open to all residents of Kampong Thom province.
“For the poor, the provincial administration encourages them to avail themselves of this free medical treatment,” he urged.
