The Lotus World organisation, in collaboration with a medical team from South Korea, provided free eye examinations and treatment – including eye surgery – to around 1,200 Cambodians in Siem Reap this week.
From June 18-20, around 400 people were treated each day by the Korean medical team, who were based at the Lotus World organisation’s office on National Road 6A in Teuk Vil commune’s Chey village, according to the organisation’s press release.
Sen Naren, an administrative officer at Lotus World, told The Post on June 21 that the group is made up of 28 eye specialists from Kim’s eye hospital in South Korea.
“If surgery was required, it was also free, and medicine was provided to patients who needed it,” he said.
Naren aded that similar medical exchanges had been conducted prior to the outbreak of Covid-19, with Korean medical teams offering free treatment for eyes, gynecological issues and general diseases.
“Generally, they visit the Kingdom once or twice a year to provide consultations and treatment,” he said.
