At least 25 people died in traffic accidents during the first six days of November, including 13 deaths that occurred over the three days of the Water Festival. More than 1,600 former minefields, covering a total area of about 121 square kilometres in Battambang, Banteay Meanchey and Pailin provinces, have been returned to local communities for safe use since 2020 — with nearly 80 per cent of the land now being cultivated for agriculture, according to the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA). The Ministry of Environment has reported that it prevented the discharge of more than 15,890,000 cubic metres of untreated wastewater from January to October of this year. Among the total, approximately two million cubic metres was stopped in October alone. Ministry spokesperson Khvay Atitya stated that the prevention of the discharge of untreated wastewater to avoid environmental pollution was carried out in accordance with the Environmental and Natural Resources Code of Cambodia. An additional 34 camera traps are being installed within the Lomphat REDD+ Project area, to expand the scope of biodiversity and wildlife monitoring in the project area. The Kratie Mekong Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge, valued at $114 million, will officially be officially opened to the public on April 1, 2026, according to Phan Rim, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
