The Ministry of Environment has cancelled the planned ‘Ponlork Baitong’ Exhibition and the National One-Million Palm Tree Planting Event 2025, which were scheduled to take place from August 5 to 7. The ministry highlighted the current need to focus efforts on supporting Cambodia’s frontline soldiers along the Cambodia–Thailand border and the citizens who were displaced by the fighting. Today, August 4, ordnance specialists from the Cambodian mine Action Centre (CMAC), the Golden West and NPA (Norwegian People’s Aid), assessed an unexploded MK-84 bomb which was found in Oddar Meanchey province. The spread of false information on social media platforms has stirred public confusion and fear, and most worryingly, has disrupted military and police investigations. This has even extended to alerting the enemy to the capture of their own intelligence operatives, warned Cambodia’s Anti-Cyber Crime Department. A major drug bust in late July saw more than half a tonne of narcotics seized and two Vietnamese nationals taken into custody. The authorities are reportedly searching for another six members of the gang. A spokesperson for the Phnom Penh Municipal Court confirmed that the court obtained the case file, dated July 30, on August 2. Among the drugs seized were 291.39 kilogrammes of methamphetamine (ice), 199.8 kilogrammes of MDMA (ecstasy), 70.1 kilogrammes of heroin 943 grammes of ketamine.
