Cambodia is the victim in the current two-day wave of attacks by Thai armed forces, declared Pen Bona, head of the Government Spokesperson unit. He noted the Thai use of heavy weapons and the bombing of civilian areas, as he addressed a press conference this morning, July 25, held to inform the media about the current situation regarding Thailand’s military incursion into Cambodian territory. “Cambodia is the victim of aggression by the Thai military, whose intention is to fulfil an expansionist ambition to seize Cambodian land. This fact is well known among our citizens and the international community,” Bona said.…

Thai forces began launching attacks at seven locations on Cambodian soil at around 3am this morning, July 25, and are deploying cluster munitions, according to Ministry of National Defence spokesperson Maly Socheata. She told a press conference this morning that Thai F-16s were striking several sites, and noted that the use of cluster munitions had also been observed. “This indiscriminate and aggressive invasion is a serious violation of international law, including conventions on cluster munitions. The use of such weapons is not only an act of cruelty and inhumanity by Thailand but also clearly shows their complete disregard for international…
The Ministry of Health convened a July 24 meeting to review its strategic plan for providing medical services and emergency support along the border areas, especially in zones where armed conflict is occurring. Health minister Chheang Ra noted that national-level hospitals from the provinces along the Cambodia–Thailand frontier had already organised and dispatched medical teams, equipment and supplies to support existing local medical personnel. “As medical professionals, we are a silent army, always standing ready alongside our armed forces,” he said. During the meeting, the minister outlined key priorities for all levels of health officials. These included ensuring all national…

Fellow citizens, please don’t worry! I’ve been sitting right…
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has strengthened cooperation with the Ministry of Environment. It is using satellite technology to support the fight against global climate change and contribute to natural resource management, with the ultimate goal of helping Cambodia become carbon neutral by 2050. This comprehensive cooperation was highlighted during a July 23 working meeting between Minister of Environment Eang Sophalleth and Osamu Ochiai, director of the Earth Observation Research Center at JAXA, held at the ministry’s headquarters in Phnom Penh. According to the ministry, Osamu highlighted advanced capabilities in collecting environmental data via satellite. This includes a Biomass…
A national population-based cancer registry system has been officially launched. It will serve as a foundation for cancer control efforts, as the disease continues to pose a serious threat to public health. Minister of Health Chheang Ra presided over the July 23 launch ceremony. “The purpose of establishing the cancer registry system is to create a foundation for cancer control by using current cancer data and future projections to support evidence-based decisions and strategic planning in cancer prevention, early detection, clinical management and patient care,” explained a ministry statement. The ministry noted that cancer is one of five leading non-communicable…
In a blatant act of military aggression that threatens peace and stability in Southeast Asia, Thai armed forces launched an unprovoked assault against Cambodian troops stationed near the sacred Ta Mone Thom and Ta Krabey temples in Banteay Meanchey province — well within Cambodia’s internationally recognised borders. The attack, which occurred on the morning of July 24, sparked intense clashes along the Cambodia–Thailand border in Oddar Meanchey province. This was not a border misunderstanding. It was an armed violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty. According to Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, “Cambodian forces acted strictly within…
Once again, Thailand has crossed the line — literally and figuratively. With strategic deceit and irresponsible diplomacy, Bangkok has launched a campaign of distortion, shifting blame for its own recklessness onto the Kingdom of Cambodia. On July 23, five Thai soldiers were reportedly injured by a landmine in An Seh village, Choam Khsant district, Preah Vihear province — a territory that is undeniably within Cambodia’s sovereign borders. Instead of acknowledging its own violation of agreed protocols and the geographical facts, Thailand is shamefully accusing Cambodia of an act it neither committed nor initiated. Such conduct is not only dishonest —…
Thailand has escalated tensions with Cambodia, withdrawing its ambassador to Cambodian and expelling the Kingdom’s representative to Thailand, after another landmine incident took place late this afternoon. Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, who also serves as interior minister, announced the escalation, following a 4.55pm landmine explosion this afternoon, which cost the leg of a Thai soldier on patrol. The acting prime minister said that he had received a report from General Natthapol Nakphanit, deputy defence minister, reporting that a member of a patrol unit from the 14th Infantry Regiment stepped on a landmine in what the Thai’s called the Huai…
