The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has assured the more than 400 workers of a garment factory which was destroyed in a fire last night that they will receive their salaries and benefits. The Foremart Cambodia factory was completely gutted in a blaze which erupted at 6.30pm on February 11. A total of 18 nests belonging to vulnerable and critically endangered bird species, along with 13 newborn chicks, have been discovered in Kratie province’s Sambor Wildlife Sanctuary. The discoveries were made over the course of a four day census, conducted last week. Community members from seven nearby villagers collaborated with a biodiversity research and monitoring team from WWF Cambodia to carry out the survey of nesting sites. The Ministry of Environment and the Royal Academy of Cambodia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation on the preservation of the Techo Sen RusseyTreb Park in Preah Vihear province. South Korean manufacturer Very Words has announced plans to donate 8,000 electric motorcycles to the Ministry of Environment.
